Structured Process: Returns
For the structured process, we looked at returns. Our first suggestion is that ShopRite implements a system that does paper and digital receipts. This way when the receipt is scanned the system will pull up all the information rather than just the last time the customer shopped.Another solution is that Shoprite creates a database for the refund log sheet so this way employees do not have to manually enter everything. These features will be efficient for the company to run better and accurate for returns.
Our Recommendation:
The solution that would be best for ShopRite is to have a better receipt system that shows more specific information on the computer than the last time a person shopped. For example, the system would pull up a digital copy of the receipt, the date and time the person was in store as well as the product information for the item that they are trying to return. This system would improve efficiency and speed up the return.
Dynamic Process: Social Media
For the dynamic process, we recommend that ShopRites introduces Instagram pages for each store like they have on Facebook. This way they will reach more people and have more interactions since a lot of people are on instagram more than Facebook.
Another suggestion is that, the stores do Facebook competitions, like having a store scavenger hunt or photo challenge to get user more engaged and also build customer relations through the the competitions. As well as, Facebook polls to get the consumers' feedback about certain things with in the store. The prizes could be Shoprite gift cards of various amounts for first, second and third place.
Lastly, Shoprite could do a weekly segment called Humans of Shoprite that would feature customers and employees. The post would contain a picture of the person and a caption about what they love about Shoprite. This would help consumers get to know the employees as well as help to build customer relations and community feeling.
Our Recommendation
We recommend that ShopRite does Facebook photo and scavenger hunt competitons. It will drive people to the store which could in return increase sales and it will give consumers the opportunity to interact with the staff and build customer relations. It would also provide free marketing for certain products that other potential consumers will see. In addition, it would not cost ShopRite a lot of money to do these challenges, which in turn follows their low-cost strategy, and they could be done quarterly or semi-annually.Another recommendation would be to have digital receipts that customers can have saved on their phones because a lot of times customers lose the physical copy. This will help save time and confusion when a customer wants to return something but they do not have the physical copy itself.
